I Don't Know What to Do
“God, help me today with the faith to trust what I don’t know with who I do know.”
It is the simplest prayers that arrest the worry and fear in my heart on a daily basis. We don’t live a life free from pain, so we should never live a day free from prayer. I don’t know what battles you’re facing today. For me: I’m states away from my friends who are walking through a trying time and want to be there for them, my sister is fighting for our country and the news makes it hard to be at ease, and I have some decisions to make about a possible transition in my own life. I don’t know what to do about any of it, but I do know my prayers have more power than my worry. My praise can have more impact than the fear so that’s what I will do. I will trust what I don’t know with the One I do know.
I know God is faithful. I know He is a healer. God is a way maker. He is taking everything we don’t know and will work it together for our good and for His glory. This I know. This is our song today.
Here are some verses to help you simply rest your worries with the One who has good plans to be your source of strength and peace:
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. Habbakuk 3:17-19
“Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Luke 22:42
The waves might rage but let’s focus on the One who controls them. I’m praying for you today as you wait.
